Our Sourcing Standard
Every case published here is based on publicly available, verifiable information: court records, law enforcement statements and press releases, official case files, and reporting from established news outlets.
We do not invent names, quotes, dialogue, or details. Where information is unconfirmed, disputed, or unavailable, we say so rather than fill the gap with speculation.
How We Label Cases
We use three labels, and we use them precisely:
- Solved means a perpetrator has been convicted in a court of law.
- Identified means a previously unknown victim’s identity has been confirmed, but the case remains otherwise unsolved.
- Unsolved means the case remains fully open.
Presumption of Innocence
Under the American legal system, everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. We do not name or imply guilt for any individual who has not been formally charged, and we do not present convictions for individuals who have not actually been convicted.
Where a case involves a named suspect, arrest, or person of interest who has not been convicted, our coverage reflects that status accurately and avoids language suggesting otherwise.
AI-Assisted Research and Content Support
We use AI assistant tools to help with research and early drafts of some content, which we then personally review, fact-check, and edit before anything is published. Every fact presented is checked against the public sourcing described above.
We Are Not Investigators
Cold Case Whisperer is an independent media project. We are not law enforcement; we are not affiliated with any police department or government agency, and we do not conduct independent investigations.
Our role is to document and present cases that are already part of the public record. For the most current, authoritative information on any case, always refer to the official law enforcement agency handling it, or resources like NamUs (namus.gov).

Tone and Purpose
These stories involve real victims and real families. We aim to cover each case with the same respect we’d want shown to someone we knew, without sensationalizing violence or tragedy for entertainment.
